Sussexes' royal tour in all but name: Beaming Prince Harry and Meghan kick off 'private'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began their 72-hour whistlestop tour of Nigeria today with a trip to a school supported by the couple's Archewell Foundation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met officials and children at the Wuse Lightway Academy this morning, hours after their arrival at Abuja in the early hours. The couple flew in together just before 5am following a secret reunion at London Heathrow 's VIP Windsor Suite yesterday after the Duchess arrived from Los Angeles . They both boarded the British Airways overnight flight to Abuja, which was slightly delayed after the scheduled pilot went sick and a replacement had to be scrambled. The Sussexes, visiting Nigeria together for the first time, were seated in the first class section of the Boeing 777 and were kept apart from other passengers by a curtain. It comes after Harry said it was 'great' to be back in the UK this week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. The Duke had been in London since Tuesday, attending events relating to the competition including a thanksgiving service.

World told to brace for 'severe geomagnetic storm' today - the first in nearly 20 years - which could bring chaos to mobile phone networks, GPS satellites and power grids

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued the Severe (G4) Geomagnetic Storm Watch late Thursday - which itself was the first such alert aired since January 2005, when the earth was hit with the highest dose of radiation it had seen in a half-century. This time around, the 'unusual event' could  disrupt electronic devices like GPS and parts of power grids, the American agency said - while citing how it may also drape a huge portion of the country in a spectacular circle of light.

Baby Reindeer row explodes as viewers brand TV interview where Fiona Harvey outed herself as 'Martha' 'highly irresponsible' and suggest she was 'exploited for sensationalism and poor taste'

A row has exploded over a 'highly irresponsible' TV interview with the 'real' Martha from Baby Reindeer. Shocked viewers said they were 'disturbed' by the programme on Piers Morgan Uncensored, which they branded a 'painful watch'. Baby Reindeer's 'Martha' tonight revealed her real name was Fiona Harvey - but furiously denied stalking comic Richard Gadd and said she would take Netflix to court over the drama. In a bombshell interview Ms Harvey, 58, said she had only met the comedian three times and when quizzed on the content of some of the messages she admitted sending him called them 'jokey banter' The Scottish woman went on to say she wanted to 'set the record straight' following the Netflix show's phenomenal global success and trolls contacting her online after it began streaming. However, she denied sending him 41,000 emails and scores of tweets and claimed instead it was more like just ten messages and one letter sent by post. In the wide-ranging interview with Piers Morgan, she revealed details of her 'impoverished' upbringing and that she was in a five-year relationship with a male lawyer.

SARAH VINE: Coarse and mouthy she may be, but Gemma Collins has something most celebrities

There is something about Gemma Collins 's use - or misuse, as some have categorised it - of the word 'hermaphrodite' that makes me warm to this self-styled Essex 'Del-Girl'. In a frank and at times rather heart-breaking episode of the Daily Mail's Everything I Know About Me podcast, the reality TV star talks about a time in her early 20s when she fell pregnant by her stockbroker boyfriend. She describes how he was less than thrilled at the news. (She later found out he was having an affair with a hairdresser called Clare, even though she and this man were living together.)

Israel's DOUBLE Eurovision victory over the pro-Palestine hate mob: Eden Golan reaches singing contest final despite protesters disrupting rehearsal - and is second-favourite to WIN after brilliant performance

Singer Eden Golan performed her song 'Hurricane' in Thursday's second semi-final in front of 9,000 spectators at the host city's eponymous Malmo Arena, defying thousands of demonstrators marching over the Gaza war. She took to the stage having spent the whole day locked down in her hotel room by her country's Shin Bet security agency after receiving death threats and amid terror-attack fears. Thousands of protesters clamoured in the streets of Malmo calling for her expulsion from the competition ahead of the event - and 50 more made it to the front of the arena ahead of her performance and had to be dispersed by police officers. But despite boos from the pro-Palestinian contingent in the crowd, Golan booked her place in the final thanks to viewers' votes.

Flight 166, a 737 jet operated by United Airlines carrying 50 passengers, took off from Fukuoka Airport in southwestern Japan and headed for Guam - only to turn back minutes later when pilots declared an emergency. The plane landed back on the tarmac at Fukuoka around 11:45am local time (3:45am UK time) after a wing flap was found to be malfunctioning. No casualties were reported. Yesterday, a total of 190 people were evacuated from a Boeing 737-800 belonging to Turkey-based Corendon Airlines whose tyre burst as it came into land at Gazipasa airport near the Mediterranean coastal town of Alanya. That came just hours after shocking footage emerged showing the moment terrified passengers fled a burning Boeing 737-300 jet carrying 78 passengers that skidded off the runway and caught fire during take-off in Senegal. And on Wednesday, a Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by FedEx made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport after its front landing gear failed

Having borne the vilest of slurs, insults, accusations and betrayals out of Camp Montecito with dignified silence - for years now - it seems they have served up, with quiet elegance, the dish best served cold. The chill is felt Stateside, trust. The prodigal Prince Harry, meant to take his victory lap in London as his Invictus Games reach the ten-year mark, entered St. Paul's alone while his father and brother held events mere miles away. And what does this all mean for Meghan Markle? Surely she is drawing a ultra-fine, obscenely priced cashmere shawl by Loro Piana or the like over her shoulders, cradling a hot cuppa and wondering what this all bodes for #BrandSussex.

Speaking yesterday while visiting London for Scotty's Little Soldiers, a charity for bereaved military children, Harry was asked by BBC royal correspondent Daniela Relph: 'How is it being here?'
